Please join us as students in this inaugural edition of the new teaching partnership between UMD and Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (KNU) present their research and field questions and receive feedback in a panel format.
UMD and KNU students are collaborating in small groups to propose Public History projects that will take one of the following forms: a proposal for a History Museum/Memorial site; an NGO briefing book; or a proposal for a high-school History textbook. Together, the US-based and Ukrainian students will propose innovative Public History initiatives drawing on original research carried out in a collaborative group format in defiance of the challenges faced by Ukraine as an active war zone.
The course, taught in collaboration between Dr. Piotr Kosicki (UMD) and Dr. Serhii Humennyi (KNU), has used the historian's toolkit to examine borders and memory-making at war through a global lens.
This culminating symposium is a collaboration between the Nathan and Jeanette Miller Center for Historical Studies and the Office of International Affairs, Global Learning Initiatives.
The event will occur online on Zoom on Monday, April 29, at noon (EDT).
