Studying abroad was a great way to learn independence and self assurance. I definitely grew as a person.

Advice for future #TerpsAbroad: Be respectful of the culture, yet also very cautious and responsible. It’s easy to get caught up in all the fun, but remember why you went there and the image you’re representing. Also, stay away from the “touristy stuff” as much as you can. Of course, go see all the iconic sites but getting to know a place in the less popular areas is so much better.

My most memorable experience was looking out of AUR’s window and seeing the entire city. That was the first time I realized how much freedom I had in one of the world's most interesting civilizations and that all its history was at my fingertips. I just had to take a tram a few stops down the street to be at the Colosseum. That was incredible.

Advice for future #TerpsAbroad: Studying abroad is an eye-opening experience. Experiencing a new culture in such an intimate way helps you not only appreciate your own culture but also appreciate and respect the differences.

[The hardest part about studying abroad was that] I got a bit homesick, but it’s important to know it’s all temporary so you might as well make the most of it!
