Course Policies

  • Payment: Payment for all classes is due in full no later than the start of the first day of class. Payment can be made by check or money order made payable to the University of Maryland.
  • Refunds: If CIM cancels the course, registered students will receive a refund in full. Click here to see the withdrawal and refund policy.
  • Cancelations: To cancel your registration for a class you must contact Rebecca McGinnis and submit your cancelation request to CIM prior to the start of the first class. Full refunds are offered only for cancelations received prior to the first day of class.
  • Withdrawals: To withdraw from a CIM class you must complete a withdrawal form  and submit it to CIM. A refund of 50 percent is offered for withdrawals received before the second class. No refunds are offered after the second class.
  • Bad Weather Closings: If a class is canceled due to weather conditions, CIM will follow the University of Maryland snow plan. If the University closes early, classes scheduled after the closing hour will be canceled. If the University opens late, classes scheduled before the opening hour will be canceled. If the University is closed for the day, classes will be canceled for the entire day.
  • Make-Up Classes: When students are absent, no make-up classes are offered. In the event that the instructor must be absent due to illness or emergency, the class will be made up as soon as possible. During the first class session, the teacher will collect email addresses of the students so that notification can be made in such cases.
