The University of Maryland continues to operate its education abroad programming in Barcelona and other parts of Spain. Mobility in, out of and around the city continues unimpeded by the political climate, and our institutional partners there report that everyday life remains generally calm and normal. We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to do so, relying on guidance from the U.S. State Department, our international security provider, our in-country partners, and our professional network of study abroad risk management professionals to help us assess risk and provide direction and resources to students. We strongly advise students to avoid all demonstrations and protests, and to leave any area at the first sign of gathering crowds.
