Fresh out of college, I played solo horn in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra from 1981 to 84 where I also had my first conducting lessons with Kurt Masur who served as my mentor. I returned to Europe in 1994 as a member of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, Artistic Director of the Escuela de Practica Orquestal - a ground-breaking program for young Galician musicians supported and run by the professional orchestra - assisting William Christie in opera productions of Les Arts Florissants at Glyndebourne and at the Theatre Champs Elysees, and guest conducting orchestras throughout Spain. I also led numerous courses in orchestral playing, conducting, and chamber music. I return to Spain every year and continue to play a shaping role in the future of young orchestral musicians in that country. My professional work has also brought me to Germany, England, and Sweden.
