UMD: A Globally Connected University

Rick Tagne

Rick Tagne, who took part in Global Semester: U.S. Diplomacy and Policymaking, created and led a University of Maryland team to fundraise for a non-profit called, “The Adventure Project.” This non-profit organization provides poverty-stricken communities with the tools, training, and resources to become an entrepreneur and help their own communities by addressing issues such as improving health and decreasing  hunger. Tagne’s team raised $1,100 dollars, which helped create two jobs in Kenya and Uganda, impacting a total of 371 locals. In addition, Rick was accepted in the prestigious joint BA/Master of Public Policy Program at the University of Maryland.
