UMD: A Globally Connected University

UMD keeps Maryland linked to its "Birthplace," Kiplin Hall, North Yorkshire UK

Around the same time he was seeking to establish what would become Maryland Colony in North America, George Calvert, First Baron Baltimore, rebuilt the country house where he was born in North Yorkshire, UK.  Since the mid 1980s UMD has maintained a residential facility--the Maryland Study Centre at Kiplin Hall--to serve as a base for programs that allow high school and college students, as well as faculty and professionals, to explore that historic connection, and the myriad resources of the Kiplin region across a wide variety of topics.
