Expert Credentials:

My field is the social control of technology, using the legal system, which I have studied and taught in a variety of international settings. I teach Product liability and government regulation jointly with Bernd Beier, a German legal scholar. I have been a visiting faculty member at the U of Frankfurt, Glasgow Caledonian University and Stirling University. I particularly study Technical culture and how it affects the social control of technology. Different cultures have different approaches to risk and they manifest themselves in different legal systems. Because of globalization and European unification products are routinely shipped into environments with different technical cultures. This can in some cases result in disaster.
