UMD: A Globally Connected University

Immunization and Health Insurance

New Freshmen and Transfer Undergraduate Students

All students are required by the University Health Center to submit their immunization information online or in person.  A copy of the immunization form with instructions can be found here.

As such, as of Fall 2017, all newly admitted students in F and J status who are undergraduates are automatically enrolled and cannot waive out of insurance coverage.  This practice was implemented to ensure that international students on UMD sponsorship, who are not subject to requirements of the Affordable Care Act, receive appropriately comprehensive insurance coverage.

Completed forms should be submitted to the Health Center via www.myuhc.umd.edu

Students must:

  1. input their information online, and
  2. upload their supporting documentation (see Immunization Form for details).

Health Center staff will contact students by secure email message once their forms have been reviewed, and will let them know if if they need to set up an appointment to complete immunization requirements.

Students who receive an message from Health Center staff stating that an appointment is required should follow up by making an appointment. Do not make an appointment unless you have received an email from the Health Center staff stating that you need one.  Appointments can be made online at www.myuhc.umd.edu, or by calling the Health Center.

International Immunization and Clinic Form Review is available on the following dates: August 17, August 20-24, and August 27, 2018.  Hours are between 9am-11am and 1pm-3:30pm.  No appointments are needed. Please be sure to arrive with your photo ID and any insurance information you have.  Please note, if you intend to have a TB blood test done, you may eat beforehand, as food does not affect the blood test result.

If you have not already uploaded your immunizations online, you should bring proof of immunizations with you.  Please remember that TB blood tests done outside of the US will not be accepted.

All questions about immunization requirements should be addressed to the Health Center Immunization Office at 301-314-8114.  Alternatively, you can send questions by secure email message, by logging on to www.myuhc.umd.edu, and clicking on Messages on the left side of the page.

All J1& J2 Exchange Visitors (except Non-Degree Exchange Students) should upload proof of insurance coverage into the iTerp system upon arrival to UMD and maintain coverage throughout your stay at University of Maryland.
