South China Agricultural University Completes Higher Education Administration Program (08/14) / 华南农业大学培训项目顺利闭幕
South China Agricultural University (SCAU) just completed a robust 25-day higher education administration training course, aimed at increasing trainee capacity to management and develop programs within Universities. Capitalizing on University of Maryland faculty expertise, SCAU trainees had extensive coursework on subjects including trends in agricultural programs within US public research institutions and financial planning. They also took advantage of the University of Maryland’s rich history as an agricultural college by visiting the on-site farm and how it influences current agricultural research. They also visited nearby farms, where they were able to not only learn about local farm programs, but also eat ice cream made from the milk of the cows on the farm. The group also gained invaluable experience on educational excursions to Philadelphia, Boston and New York, where they learned more about higher education initiatives. Finally, as seen in the picture of their graduation ceremony, the trainees were greeted by the esteemed Dean of the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources, who encouraged them to continue cross-cultural academic endeavors between China and the US.
