Committing to Action, For the Good

Diversity

The perspectives of our diverse community of students, faculty and staff are essential and irreplaceable. Program and scholarship decisions are not made on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation or disability.

Sustainability

In order to engage with the world, we must protect the planet. Maryland offsets 100% of the university's air travel emissions associated with faculty, staff, and student travel (since 2017). Our office is also working towards a bronze-certified membership of the University of Maryland's Green Office Program through the Office of Sustainability. This program supports and promotes offices that are taking steps towards reducing their environmental footprint.

Accessibility

Participation in study abroad programs must not be limited to the affluent and privileged. Study abroad was created as an imperfect modality with many barriers to participation—but at Maryland, we believe in the power of accountability and transformation. Education Abroad works each day to increase accessibility to study abroad through inclusive practices and student-centered program development.
