Spend the summer of a lifetime working in Singapore at a for-credit guaranteed internship! As the dynamic center of Southeast Asian business, Singapore allows students to see first-hand the world of global business.

This is a 6-credit international internship. You will experience first-hand the challenges and opportunities of working in another country and with people from different cultural backgrounds. Based in Singapore, the internship program will give you an international experience that is invaluable for building your professional development, while supplementing your current course of academic study at UMD.

Eligible Pell Grant recipients may apply for the Gilman International Scholarship.     
 

You must be in good academic and judicial standing and you must not have any registration blocks to participate in this program. The minimum GPA for this program is listed above.

UMD second year sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to apply to this program.

All majors are welcome, but some industries may be restricted.

You will choose one of the following courses for your in-country internship (Summer 2022):

  • BMGT386: General Business (6 credits)
  • BMGT373: Supply Chain/Logistics (6 credits)
  • BMGT357: Marketing (6 credits)

The credit you earn during this program will count as resident credit.

You will stay in shared accommodations. Limited internet is available.

$1,000 CIBE International Internship Scholarship
All students who commit to the Summer Global Internship Program are eligible to receive a $1,000 CIBE International Internship Scholarship. This award is provided by a Title VI grant from the U.S. Department of Education known as CIBE (Center for International Business Education). The UMD Center for Global Business is one of 15 schools nationwide to receive the CIBE grant and its mission is to promote the ability of U.S. businesses to compete globally and to foster international understanding. Application instructions will be provided in your internship acceptance letter.

NOTE: This internship is not eligible for tuition remission. 

Costs are current for Summer 2023. 
*Please note this program qualifies for eligible Pell Grant recipients to apply for the Gilman International ScholarshipOnline applications will open mid-January programs that occur between May 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024. Applications will close later in March.
