Guidelines for Students in the School of Public Health

Students in the School of Public Health must meet with an Education Abroad Advisor and their department if they wish to study abroad. Students should meet with Education Abroad first to talk about possible programs. Once students have met with Education Abroad and have an idea of what classes they will be taking, they then need to make an appointment with an advisor in their department:

  • Community Health: Jenny Roche.  Schedule an appointment online.
  • Family Science: Amanda Bowsher.  Schedule an appointment online
  • Kinesiology: Dr. Ana Palla-Kane.  Schedule an appointment online.

At this meeting, the advisor will determine how specific courses abroad will apply to the student's degree. This is also a good time to determine what other requirements are remaining.

Students needing specific courses approved for CORE, a minor, or another major should plan to visit those specific departments prior to coming to meet with their department. Once the department has signed off on courses, the final step is receiving Dean's approval. This is done in Student Services Center, room 1304 SPH Building.

Plan ahead -- the process to have your Permission to Study Abroad Form approved can take a minimum of one week.
