UMD: A Globally Connected University
Get Connected @UMD
Getting to know other students and finding a community on campus is one of the most important factors of a successful and enjoyable experience for new students. There are so many ways to get involved! You will discover more when you start taking classes and get to know the campus, but here are some ideas to give you an overview and a chance to start looking around and see what might interest you:
Our office holds International Coffee Hour every Wednesday during the semester, usually from 3:00pm-4:30pm in Dorchester Basement Lounge. This weekly get-together is a great way to meet new people and reconnect with friends over some free coffee and snacks. ISSS also offers monthly excursions that help you explore the area. Look out for announcements! All ISSS events are published in our newsletter ISSS News that you will receive weekly as well as our Facebook page and Twitter account. Make sure to like and follow us to stay in the loop.
At the University of Maryland, we have over 300 student organizations and we are sure there is one for you. Start browsing at http://orgsync.umd.edu/browse_student_organizations.
