Volunteer Opportunities

Orientation

At the beginning of each semester, ISSS hosts an International Student Orientation to welcome incoming international students. With large numbers of international students arriving every Fall and Spring, ISSS seeks International Orientation Leaders to volunteer to assist with questions, campus orientation and excursions to Washington D.C.  Learn more about becoming an International Orientation.

Maryland Day

Maryland Day is an event where the University of Maryland showcases all that it has to offer to the greater community. It is a fair-like event that  draws over 100,000 visitors to campus!  For more information, visit marylandday.umd.edu.   ISSS  hosts an event  to celebrate the global community at the University of Maryland. It is a fun way to show your Terrapin pride!

Excursions

International students like to get off campus. Periodically throughout the year, ISSS leads a trip to a place of interest in the area. Volunteers can assist with navigating travel to the destination (usually via Metro), lead a smaller group when appropriate, and engage the students in conversation.  To sign up to be a volunteer, visit the ISSS office and speak with an advisor.
