The University of Maryland’s proximity to Washington, DC attracts visitors from an array of different countries and cultures. In the past year, our office has facilitated meetings with campus administrators and faculty for 111 visitors from 13 different countries.
Here are some useful resources when coming to visit the university:
Housing

Transportation
- Metro—the Washington, DC subway system—provides easy access to all that the area has to offer.
- The campus bus service, which also serves surrounding areas, is called Shuttle-UM. Specific routes can be found on UMD’s Department of Transportation Services website.
- Taxi information can be found by doing an online search for “Taxis in College Park, MD.” User reviews can be helpful to determine reliability.
