Maryland Sponsored Programs (i.e. Maryland-in Semester programs or UMD Faculty-led programs
Program Fee:
When you study abroad, you do not pay UMD tuition. Instead, you pay a program fee. Find the program fee on the program brochure page. The program fee is broken into three payments.

- Application Fee: For all UM short term and semester programs, you pay a $50 non-refundable application fee. This is required in order for your application to be complete and reviewed. This is paid on myEA.umd.edu for Maryland programs.
- Deposit: When you are accepted to a program, you are automatically charged a deposit ($250 for short term programs and $500 for semester long programs). This is paid on myEA.umd.edu but is INCLUDED in your program fee.
- Remaining Program Fee: The program fee is what you pay in place of UMD tuition. The program fee varies depending on the program. **Note: Program fees vary because they sometimes include different things. Be aware of what your program fee includes and does not include.
Partner Programs (i.e. USAC, TEAN, IES, DIS Copenhagen, ACTR)
Charges for partner programs vary by program. Depending on the program, some charges may be paid directly to the partner, while other charges are applied to your UMD Testudo account.
Non-UM Programs(i.e. outside university or program providers)
Study Abroad Fee: The study abroad fee is a $400 fee charged to all students studying on a non-UM program. This fee is charged to your Testudo account.
All other fees: Application fees, deposits, and program fees are all paid directly to the program provider.

UM Exchanges
Most Exchange Programs charge regular UM Tuition to your student account as well as a $250 Exchange Fee. Some Exchange programs do have a tuition waiver for accepted students, in which case they would only pay the $250/ semester Exchange Fee. Other expenses vary depending on the destination.
