Getting your I-797 Approval Notice
- A scan or photo of your passport photo page
- A copy of official diplomas in the original language with certified English translations Foreign Credentials Evaluation, if necessary
- Immigration documents (if applicable) I-20, DS-2019, I-797 approval notices, I-94, visa
Your hiring department will grant you access to iTerp to complete your e-forms. Once you complete all e-forms, the UMD department will submit the H-1B request to ISSS. ISSS will begin the H-1B process and submit the petition to USCIS.
When ISSS receives the Approval Notice from USCIS we will notify your department that it is ready to be picked up and mailed to you. In the case of an extension or change of employer we will notify you to come to the ISSS office to pick up your Approval Notice.
A H-4 dependent is a spouse and unmarried children under the age 21.
